Book Launch

12/29/2014

My Mother’s Way of Dying Well was launched in May 2014 during National Palliative Care Week here in Australia.  A representative from the ACT Palliative Care organisation introduced my book and invited people to buy it at Beyond Q bookstore in Curtin Place Curtin ACT; and at Smiths Alternative – a book store and coffee house located on the ground floor of the Melbourne Building in Civic opposite the Post Office here in Canberra, ACT.

Since the book launch people have purchased copies to donate to the Library at Clare Holland House – the Canberra Hospice.  A copy is also lodged at The National Library of Australia.

Regarding presentations and seminars, I have given pro bono presentations to students of aged care and to aged care groups that have requested them.  I do have copies of the paperback version of the book available to sell at those times so people do not have to wait to get one.

The best way for people to buy this book is online.  There are many companies that are able to provide copies of it such as Xlibris online bookstore, Collins Booksellers, Barnes and Noble, E-bay, Amazon, Booktopia and Fishpond.  For those who want a large order Xlibris is able to do bulk orders as they are printed on demand.

For me – the book launch is when I was able to let this project go as it was like giving birth to something very precious to me.  It was the way I have cast my bread upon the waters.  Completing this work has been an amazing experience and a very satisfying memorial to my parents Helen and Geoffrey Byrne.  My hope is that people reading my book will get to meet them this way, they were inspiring people who loved generously.  I hope their story will help you to do the same.
